With the recent events in Aleppo and the continuing, looming threat of the Islamic State, there seems to be no end in sight for the war on terror. This video montage is a contemplative exploration of the war on terror and failed US foreign policy and military intervention. This is not an attempt to villainize the United States--I believe much of what has been done over the past few decades has stemmed from good intentions--but these heartbreaking and uncomfortable images, in conjunction with scathingly relevant music and lyrics by The Silent Comedy, certainly underline some of our government's and military's unfortunate mistakes and inappropriate actions that have only further exacerbated these conflicts in these war-torn nations.
Song: All Saint's Day by The Silent Comedy
Lyrics:I ain’t no demon, Lord
Oh look to me please
Good men are sufferin’
With the evil at ease
And millions of innocents
Are born to disease
Oh where is our solace, Lord?
Oh Lord answer me
I look to your people, Lord
But they’re being cruel
They sleep with the criminals
That they aim to recruit
They raise in their stadiums
A poisonous brood
I think they would crucify
Oh someone like you
One day, will this be over?
Will this be over?
Will this be over?
[Repeat x4]
I ain’t no demon, Lord
But neither are you
